Miles de personas tomaron las calles de Barcelona, Madrid y Roma el domingo en una muestra de apoyo al movimiento Black Lives Matter, que ha generado protestas contra el racismo y la brutalidad policial en todo el mundo.
El evento se realizó un día después de protestas contra el racismo que se desarrollaron mayormente de forma pacífica en ciudades de Australia, Europa y Estados Unidos en respuesta a la muerte del George Floyd, un hombre de raza negra que falleció estando bajo custodia policial el 25 de mayo.
Entre los carteles se podían leer frases en inglés como “Sin justicia no hay paz”, “No puedo respirar”, “No al racismo” o el lema que ha dado la vuelta al mundo “Black lives matter” (“Las vidas negras importan”).
En Madrid, la concentración autorizada de 200 participantes frente a la embajada norteamericana se convirtió en una manifestación sin incidentes de unas 3.000 personas -según las autoridades-, convocadas en las redes sociales por Comunidad Negra Africana y Afrodescendiente en España.
Otras marchas están previstas durante la jornada en Copenhague, Bruselas, Glasgow y Londres, donde el sábado una manifestación pacífica de miles de personas terminó en enfrentamientos.
Varias ciudades europeas ya habían tenido multitudinarias manifestaciones el sábado, casi en simultáneo con las realizadas en Estados Unidos, donde decenas de miles de manifestantes marcharon este sábado de manera pacífica. Del otro lado del Atlántico, las protestas se multiplicaron desde Nueva York a Los Ángeles, pero tuvieron su epicentro en Washington, donde miles de personas rodearon las calles cercanas a la Casa Blanca.
